Okay, there is a LOT of important information coming up, so brace yourselves and pay attention please...
Important Info 1: Shipping!!
During the campaign we broke the game down into 3 waves, with wave 1 being the base game, wave 2 being the expansions, and wave 3 being Touch of Death. After discussions with our shipping partners we have decided to combine waves 1 and 2 into one wave.
We are further along than anticipated - the design for the expansions is all finished up already, so we are literally just waiting for the remaining art to come in, much of which we already have. So there's no longer any reason to hike up shipping costs by offering two separate waves which will come out very close together anyway. The shipping costs to combine the first two waves will benefit you, and they will benefit us.
This means we now aim to ship everything in one wave in the first half of 2018! :)
Touch of Death will still be shipped in its own separate wave (previously the 3rd wave, it will now be the 2nd wave), and we can confirm that it will have its own Kickstarter in late 2018 too. The pre-order funds already raised/being raised for it are going towards the Touch of Death Kickstarter funding goal already, bringing it that much closer to realisation.
Important Info 2: BackerKit Pledge Manager!!
BackerKit will send out a 'smoke test' very soon (I've submitted everything from my end already) to a random 5% of backers from each pledge level before the wide release of the pledge manager, just to ensure everything is working properly. Providing everything is okay with that group, we will be launching the pledge manager shortly afterwards.

So, you should receive your notification for it soon - some of you might have already received it, but don't worry, you're not missing out on anything if it takes a little longer.
Once you have access to the pledge manager we need you to fill it in along with all of your shipping address details by the end of January 2018.
If you do not fill it in by the end of January 2018 you risk losing your pledge.
If you do not know where you are going to be living in the first half of 2018 then please use a safe address of a trusted friend of family member. It should all be self-explanatory, but if you have any urgent questions just drop us a line: ninjadorg at gmail dot com.

For the sake of logistics, these will now simply be shipped with every copy of Encounters. So rather than having to select them manually in the pledge manager, we will just include them for you. If you don't need them because you don't own the first edition of the game, don't worry you'll just have an extra vampire (you could even shuffle him into your deck too if you're tough enough!) and 4 spare Enemy tokens. :)
If you want these but did not order Encounters, don't worry, you will be able to add the Encounters expansion pack to your pledge in the pledge manager too. If you're in the unusual position of wanting these but not the Encounters expansion pack, well, then, you crazy.
Card Totals - for card-sleeveing, etc.
For those who have been asking, the 'Hall' In pledge level (base game plus, Pimp my Gloom, Darker Gloom and Encounters expansion) would require:
378 Regular sleeves
32 Mini sleeves
25 Tarot sized sleeves
If you add Touch of Death you would need (brackets are an overall total for absolutely everything):
238 (613) Regular sleeves
32 (64) mini sleeves
0 (25) Tarot sized sleeves
So, to summarise:
Gloom of Kilforth base game is 278 regular cards, 32 mini cards
Pimp my gloom adds 25 Tarot sized cards
Darker Gloom is 12 regular cards
Encounters ended at 85 regular cards
Touch of death is 234 regular cards and 32 mini cards - it also has an extra 4 regular cards already from stretch goals too
Below is a link to the second official print version of the rules, which will be included in all copies of the new print run.
Unfortunately we are just unable to offer a printed version of this amended rulebook to existing owners of the game.
We investigated about the possibility of this during and since the campaign but it is just too cost prohibitive, not just the printing but the packaging and shipping too: because it is a bigger shape than the expansions it will not fit in their boxes so would have to be packed, sorted and shipped separately. Nevertheless, the free rules pdf is available to everyone, and I've summarised the changes below, plus there's the google sheet of every single wording change made for anyone interested in that too!
Thanks for all of your feedback on this, especially thanks to Tor Gjerde for stretching the rules not quite to breaking point, and to the most excellent Nick Hughes for compiling the list of rules questions in the first place. Here are a couple of important clarifications/updates:
Heroes can now still join a Team after they have made camp.
Traps are clarified to trigger before the Skirmish step.
Plots are set up in separate decks for each Ancient.
Heroes cannot escape or leave Ancient battles by any means.
Skill Types are no longer considered keywords for Sagas.
Automatically passing evade checks with higher Sneak is now a variant.
Heroes can trade Loot tokens.
We now have a (fairly exhaustive) index as well!
I've tried to keep everything as crystal clear as possible, so in the google sheet of changes there are four columns: the page number, the section on that page for the errata, the new text that needs to replace the old text, and what the old text was originally.
The 'biggest' layout change to note is in the Engagements section, I've separated out the Ancient battle rules into their own new section.

Hey everyone, how's tricks??
Been a while since the campaign now but we're still buzzing from the aftermath.
Work continues on the game at a pace, and we're doing everything we can to get the pledge manager ready for you guys asap.
Muted Gloom on the Pimp My Gloom cards!!
We’re going for the muted look on the tarot-sized location cards (ONLY on the Gloom side - the regular side will still be full, sumptuous colour) by your democratic vote! BUT, we’ll tinker with the location name banners and Gloom damage icon to accentuate the Gloom as well - I think you’ll like what we're doing and we'll share it in the next update. Thanks for your input, and for voting.
And we prefer the muted look, which is why we went for it in the first place. :)

Just checking in again now that the dust is settling and I just have to say WOW! That was a crazy campaign, and we didn't dare dream that we would pass the £200K mark. Thank you so much to everybody for making this yet another record-breaking super-special Hall or Nothing Kickstarter. These campaigns can be intense and frightening affairs but you guys always make them so enjoyable and exciting and funny that we really do have a great time bringing you cool new stuff - so thank you again.
Did your credit card or Kickstarter payment fail??
Don't worry. It will be a couple of weeks now whilst Kickstarter tries to charge all of your credit cards. Some will fail, so if you're having trouble, as per the FAQ - speak to your credit card provider and advise them that there will be a single unusual transaction on your account within the next two weeks. If you're still having trouble for any reason don't panic. We can sort it out with you directly once the pledge manager opens. Email me at ninjadorg at gmail dot com at the end of November and we'll set this up for you.
You forgot to up your pledge, or you missed the Kickstarter altogether!!
Don't worry, you will still be able to access the pledge manager for late pledges if you pledged £1. You won't be able to select or change your pledge level (e.g. you won't be able to name a card), but you will be able to add any items you might have missed. If you missed the whole campaign altogether because you were asleep throughout the whole of October don't worry, we'll still give access to late backers too.

Okay, so here we have a totally optional add-on. It's something we've been working on behind the scenes for some time and I'm super excited that we managed to get it all together. Hey everyone, how are you doing??
I'm back from Essen, and after slipping into a mild coma last night I'm back and refreshed, and swimming in comments, messages, posts and updates, and you know what? It's awesome!
hours to go!!!
So there it is - you know what to do, we have less than 48 hours now to bring this thing smashing down like a thunderous tarrasque romping through the city. Get out there and scream about the game as much as you can and I promise you can all have a rest on Wednesday!
Okay, well you've blown through everything for the Encounters expansion, even the Halloween special, Mister Sam Hain, who barely popped his head over the parapets before you knocked it off his shoulders and barged on towards to the next stretch goal.
The original Encounters expansion had 54 cards in it - you have already unlocked the extra 31 cards from the Stretch Goals for a total of 85 blooming cards!!! This is everything we had planned, everything from even before Gloom of Kilforth was submitted to publishers all those years ago. With Encounters you will have the full game as it was originally designed and then some!
With that in mind, we're turning our attentions towards Touch of Death. So all future Stretch Goals will move towards making Touch of Death the equally sexy sister of Gloom of Kilforth. We want to blow the market away with yet another sumptuous Hall or Nothing game and we want you to help us. So what is Touch of Death? Well, we've updated the main page with the full low-down, but let's share it again here for your convenience...

What is Touch of Death: A Fantasy Quest Game?
Touch of Death is a totally optional add-on and stand-alone expansion to Gloom of Kilforth. In every respect it is the same game as Gloom of Kilforth, but with totally new content: new heroes, new sagas, new ancients, new locations, new encounters, new rewards, etc. You can either play Gloom of Kilforth, or you can play Touch of Death, OR you can combine both games together to double the amount of content and variety you will have in your games!
Why should I back Touch of Death now? Won't there be another Kickstarter for it anyway?
Touch of Death is an optional add-on, so please pledge responsibly - this add-on is for the backers who want to make this expansion game happen. The original backers of Gloom of Kilforth from the first campaign waited nearly 2 years for delivery, so we are doing everything we can to bring that development time right down this time, by taking pre-orders for Touch of Death now. If you pledge for it now, you will be contributing to the art and development of the game and bringing the delivery date closer.
You are also receiving the deep discount price of £48 against the RRP of £57. If we do a future Kickstarter for Touch of Death there is no guarantee we will be able to offer Touch of Death for £48 again.
What do I get with Touch of Death?
Touch of Death contains the same amount of content as Gloom of Kilforth did (before the Stretch Goals from the first campaign were added), and is summarised below.
Since we have unlocked everything for the Encounters Expansion, all future stretch goals will go into improving Touch of Death.

So you might have heard that I've been to Essen this weekend. It was awesome getting to meet so many cool European backers of the game in person, and I was bowled over by the reception Gloom of Kilforth has had, and the ridiculously kind and generous things so many of you had to say about the game. I'll be honest, I don't think I'll ever tire of people saying it is their most played game. It was brilliant too, listening to all the various weird and wonderful stories of how people got into the original Kickstarter or the crazy things that sold them on the game - one lovely chap decided to jump in because of an obscure Galadriel reference in the comments section!
I still cannot get my head around signing copies and having my photo taken with people, but I am extremely proud and grateful to be in this position, and to have had the opportunity to demo the game to so many new people who had never played or in some cases even heard of the game.
I also had an epic fanbois moment when I finally met Vlaada Chvatil who has designed two of my favourite 10/10 games (Through The Ages and Mage Knight):

Some of you may remember (unless the hypnotherapy was successful) that way back in the first campaign Mr ND (aka Tristan) tasked me with writing one of the updates. Aptly I think it was on day 13 of that campaign- unlucky for you guys! Well so sorry, but here I am again. Whilst he has a mini break in Essen I'm on caretaker duties back here in the UK at Ninjadorg HQ with Ninjapup.
Luckily for me I attended the UK Games Expo earlier this year so any paranoia that might otherwise have surfaced imagining him partying away all weekend in Germany with a bevvy of scantily clad showgirls, squandering away our livelihood on high stakes poker games in a tux like James Bond in Casino Royale, all whilst sipping Cristal, have been firmly replaced with the very real vision of him spending hours in his sweaty t shirt demoing his games until he loses his voice, followed by a crawl to the nearest Burger King, or German equivalent, for some sustenance and perhaps a quick beer before flopping into his camp bed in the local pension for 20 minutes of sleep until he has to get up to do it all over again.
Anyhoo! I like to leave all the boring technical update stuff to the Boss. He has 30 days to bore you with everything you already knew and some things you probably didn't want to know about Gloom of Kilforth. The way I see it, my responsibility is to provide you with some light relief from it all. I mean 30 days is a long slog. You need to mix it up a bit. So kick back, relax and feel free to log off and do something less boring instead or if you are one of those sadistic types that likes to be bored to tears read on intrepid adventurer, read on whilst I regale you with tales of Hall or Nothing Productions...
The last time I wrote an update I retold the story of how I met Mr ND. It was when he mocked me mercilessly and very publicly in the school playground for my love of all things Phil Collins. It was the start of a love hate relationship. He obviously loved me (that's why he mocked me), I hated him for Phil bashing me. Anyway to cut a long story short one of those love stories is firmly consigned to the history books in the Hall or Nothing archives. A friend of mine recently tagged me in a Facebook post letting me know that Phil is touring this year and playing in our hometown for one date only and it's only on my actual flipping birthday!!
You know that feeling where suddenly for a split second you get an insight into the meaning of life? Where you can see through all space and time, where you have an out of body experience, hover over yourself and experience true tranquillity. That's how I felt as I headed straight over to the ticket website! This was it- this was THE MOMENT I had been waiting for. All the years of bullying would be worth it when I got to see...oh hang on, it's £200 per ticket for a decent seat, unless I want to sit behind a pillar obscuring my view. Also as I wasn't planning on going alone to a Phil Collins gig- I do have some street cred you know- that would mean shelling out the best part of £400 for 2 tickets*. Then I saw the name of the tour "Not Dead Yet." He's only in his 60's for goodness sake. What kind of emotional blackmail is this? Is he trying to suggest that this might be the last opportunity I get to ever see him because he's more than likely to cark it in the next year? Also if he is on the brink of death would it be really worth £400 to hear him gasping out the lyrics to "Take Me (to the Care) Home?" Well Phil Collins I have to say I am extremely disappointed. This is not the kind of behaviour I expected from you. We're officially over! And I'm keeping the record collection.
*Do however feel free to visit my crowdfunding page for the "Help Get Me to the Phil Collins 'Not Dead Yet' concert on my birthday and before Phil is Definitely Dead" campaign. My target is £441.50. That's for 2 'not dead yet' tickets, 2 'still not dead yet' drinks, a 'definitely not dead yet' programme, an 'absolutely not dead yet' t shirt, a 'in case i get buried alive' luminous glow stick and the 'I wish I was dead' bus fare there and back. In return I guarantee to take some very blurred photos of a tiny indistinguishable undead blue blob some 50 miles in the distance and a 30 second distorted recording on my Iphone of "Easy Lover" whilst insisting the whole time that I was so near the front I could touch him.
Back to part two of the story of Mr and Mrs ND: It was one of the coldest Januarys on record. Snow piled high into impossible mountainous drifts and the foolish few who ventured out in their automobiles in a misguided attempt to suck up to the boss and make it into work against all odds (ooh that's one of Phil's songs..) found themselves stranded in that no man's land between 'way too far to walk back home in my converse' and 'still nowhere near blooming work'. Mrs ND shivered as she gazed at the blizzard from the window. There was no denying it, she and Mr ND were definitely snowed in and only a snow plough could rescue them now. 'If only she hadn't picked this precise moment to be 9 months and 11 days up the duff' grumbled Mr ND. 'I could have had a whole day playing Shadows of Brimstone and instead I have to go out into the freezing cold and shovel snow..'.
Alas it was a long time before Mr ND could pick up that longed for game of SoB. He was obviously desperate to play it because in the first few weeks after the birth of Ninjapup he used to utter that phrase a lot. The birth of Ninjapup was a time of rejoicing, festivities and extreme hysteria due to lack of sleep in the Ninjadorg household. Once the adored Ninjapup prince was but a mere 2 days old and fresh out of hospital, well wishing visitors adorned with gifts and cards descended upon the house to coo at the new arrival and bombard the parents with queries about when they were going to have another one.
The years raced by but it was a nervous wait for Mr ND until that fateful day some 4 years later when to his utter tear inducing pride Ninjapup announced; 'Daddy I don't like football anymore- can we play Avengers the card game?' No toothless, wayward, backwards, inbred contestant waiting for DNA test results on the Jeremy Kyle/Jerry Springer show has ever been more relieved than Mr ND was to hear those words, and no more convincing, complete, final, incontestable proof that a child was his could there be. (Editor's note: reference is purely for theatrical flourish and no implication is made that Mr ND ever requested a DNA test or that paternity was in question...)
Sometimes when father and son were engaged in a day long games fest and the kitchen was out of bounds to Mrs ND due to the festering odours emitting from 2 boys locked in a confined space for 9 hours whilst eating cheese puffs, she wondered whether or not she would have liked to have had a girl. A real, girly girl. They could have braided each other's hair and shared fashion and beauty tips and been best friends and scoffed at those stupid boys. She'd be a real beauty Mrs. ND thought, blonde curls and blue eyes and rosebud lips... Suddenly in order to prevent a hole ripping in the very fabric of the universe and in order to safeguard the order of nature and the future of humanity, the power[s] that be were forced to intervene and gave Mrs ND an unprecedented glimpse into the future. 'Behold!' boomed a voice of unknown origin (Editor's note: complete fabrication) 'I present you with a glimpse of your daughter. Take heed, she will inherit your personality but her father's looks'...
After an extremely long convalescence and any thoughts of a daughter firmly consigned to tales around a campfire at Halloween Mr and Mrs ND are very content with their little family of 3.
So the moral of the story is this...Don't spend £400 to see Phil Collins for one night when £400 could buy you a pair of diamond earrings* that last for eternity...
