Gloom of Kilforth: A Fantasy Quest Game Expansions
Created by Tristan Hall
Gloom of Kilforth is a game of high fantasy with a gothic edge, where 1-4 players, working individually or together, assume the roles of heroes on a journey through a dark world of magic and peril. Each player follows their hero’s tale, an epic saga from modest beginnings through to a climactic battle that will decide the fate of the world...

Howdy stranger!
Let's get straight down to it...
Progress!!
We are in the final stages of prepping the files to send to the printers. This is another achingly slow part of the process unfortunately, but at least it's our responsibility! We hope to have all the files submitted this month, though GenCon is fast approaching too...
GenCon!!
I will be attending GenCon in a couple of weeks for the first time ever and I'm dead excited! I'm going alone and I won't have a stand because there will be no time to man it between meetings, but if you're going along too it would be great to meet you and thank you in person for backing.
I've organised a short Gloom of Kilforth demo event for the Sunday at 1pm - it's by invitation only so if you're interested let me know in the comments below and we'll just say first-come, first-served. And if there happens to be more demand maybe you guys can let me know where might be a good place to meet up afterwards and at least high five and say hello. :)
Rulebook!!
Our rulebook has gone on a diet! It lost 4 pages (and gained an index). This updated version will be included in every new copy of Gloom of Kilforth but it is also available to existing owners in digital form below - let us know if you spot any typos!!
This second official print version of the rules is mostly just wording changes for clarity but there are a couple of updates too:
* Heroes can now still join a Team after they have made camp.
* Traps are clarified to trigger before the Skirmish step.
* Plots are set up in separate decks for each Ancient.
* Heroes cannot escape or leave Ancient battles by any means.
* Skill Types are no longer considered keywords for Sagas.
* Automatically passing evade checks with higher Sneak is now a variant.
* Heroes can trade Loot tokens.
FYI, if you have pre-ordered or are going to order Touch of Death: A Fantasy Quest Game, this updated version of the Gloom of Kilforth rulebook will comprise the rules for Touch of Death.
Tabletopia!!
Some of you may not know that the digital version of Gloom of Kilforth is already available to play, and for the time being it's still free too! You can check out the components or indeed play through a full game on Tabletopia here:
We had lots of lovely responses from you about the photos from UKGE so thank you for that! And now here's a quick one minute snapshot video of our adventures at the Expo too to round things off:
Unofficial Fansite!!
There's a fantastic unofficial fan page for Gloom of Kilforth with a tonne of fanmade content for the game which you should totally check out when you get chance here:
It features lots of interesting variant stuff for the game including this nasty Ancient:
Touch of Death vs Shadows of Kilforth!!
Once the Kickstarter begins Touch of Death will be changing its name to Shadows of Kilforth. This is for a number of reasons, primarily:
Touch of Death is an old (great), black and white movie,
Shadows of Kilforth was a working title for GoK at one stage, before a slew of "Shadows of" games came out; but given how strongly Gloom of Kilforth stands out against the other 'Gloom' games, we feel our next game can stand out strong from the 'Shadows' crowd too,
'Kilforth' has cemented itself as a recognisable brand name for this series now, and we're proud to support it,
It's a cool name!
We'll continue referring to it as Touch of Death and we'll launch the Kickstarter under that name too so no one feels like they're missing out - not everyone reads the updates like you guys - but we wanted you to know in advance.
And that's all for this episode, tune in next time when we'll have even more Kilforthian goodness for you!

Good eventide (or morntide, or even afternoontide if you're so inclined) to you all,
I hope today finds you as well and beautiful as can be.
It's a biggie this month, so let's kick things off with Gandalf and a machine gun:
Progress Update!!
All of the final art work is in! And it looks goygeous!! It's now on me and our graphic designers to pull together the final files for print readiness and get them off to the printers. Once we do that there's usually then a little back and forth as they idiot-check our work and make sure that all of the bleeds and measurements are correct. Then once we're all happy Panda will fire up the Dwarven Forges and commence production.
UK Games Expo 2018!!
If you live outside of the UK then UK Games Expo is basically our equivalent of Essen or GenCon and is now the third largest gaming con in the world apparently, with 20,000 visitors this year. We had a fantastic time meeting so many of you at UKGE this year, and we met many crazy individuals, some of whom you might recognise in the photos below...

Overviews!!
A great overview of 1066, Tears to Many Mothers, Gloom of Kilforth and Lifeform here by The Solo Meeple:
Both Sides of My Table put together this overview of the original Gloom of Kilforth, which actually also serves as a fantastic resource for all things Gloom, and is well worth a read if you haven't already:
Two of our heroic backers Tor Gjerde and Chris Sundli have put together this particularly lovely fan expansion for Gloom of Kilforth, featuring pretty much more of everything, using copyright-free art. The work and dedication that has gone into these is very impressive and we're delighted that our game has inspired such creativity - hats off to you guys:
Just a heads-up: at the end of June all of our pre-order prices through BackerKit and our various channels will be updating from Kickstarter pre-order prices up to their respective RRPs.
So if there are any expansions or anything that you were thinking of adding to your pledge, now is your last chance to get them at their current redonculous discounts.
And whilst that's all for now, like a certain bodybuilder-turned-governator: I'll be back.
Cheers!
Tristan xx
PS. Here's a little glimpse of the future - we shared this on the Facebook group and noticed an immediate increase in late pledges for Touch of Death:

Just a quick one to let you know we're still here and we're still thinking of you! The art is still rolling in, and for thoe of you who backed us the first time around you'll know that we love spoilering it - so I'll try to keep spoilers to a minimum this time. Mayday, Mayday! Systems failing, crew missing! Alien lifeform seen! Request urgent assistance! Oh God! Two dead, two still missing. Self destruct activated. It mustn’t get back... Save our souls!! +++++
Alone in the darkness...
From the award-winning team behind Gloom of Kilforth: A Fantasy Quest Game and 1066, Tears To Many Mothers, and from the maverick minds of Toby Farrands and legendary designer Mark Chaplin - creator of Revolver and Invaders - Lifeform is the ultimate experience of gruelling terror in the darkest, most forbidden reaches of deep space!
Lifeform is a game of survival horror for up to 4 players. One player is an unstoppable, utterly hostile alien. All other players are the crew of the doomed mining starship Valley Forge. Lifeform can also be played alone with the solo expansion Dragon's Domain where the player fights to survive against the game itself.
Racing against the self-destruct timer, the crew must search their labyrinthine ship for weapons and supplies to load onboard the escape shuttle, whilst the alien lifeform ruthlessly tears the crew apart one by one...
No marines. No power armour. Just terror...
